How to store bamboo plywood Properly?

Proper storage of bamboo plywood is essential to prevent warping, delamination, mold growth, and surface damage. Because bamboo is a hygroscopic material (it absorbs and releases moisture based on ambient humidity), environmental control is critical.

Below are professional storage guidelines:

  • Keep Panels Flat and Fully Supported

  • Store sheets horizontally on a flat, level surface.
  • Place on a pallet or level platform, not directly on the floor.
  • Place support stickers (battens) of equal thickness every 12–18 in (30–45 cm) under the pile and align them vertically.
  • Avoid leaning full sheets against a wall for long-term storage, as this may cause bowing; if you must store vertically, keep them nearly plumb and fully supported.
  • Control Temperature and Humidity

  • Ideal: indoor, stable conditions similar to where it will be installed (typically 40–60% relative humidity; 15-25°C (59–77°F) temperature).
  • Avoid big swings in temperature and humidity (no attics, sheds, or containers that get very hot or cold).
  • For long storage in tropical climates, use a dehumidifier in damp climates or climate-controlled warehousing.

Excess humidity may cause:

  • Swelling and thickness variation
  • Surface mold
  • Glue-line stress or delamination

Low humidity may cause:

  • Shrinkage
  • Surface cracking
  • Protect From Moisture and Water Exposure

  • Store in a dry, covered, well‑ventilated area.
  • Avoid direct contact with concrete floors or exterior walls (they can transfer moisture).
  • Keep away from leaks, open doors in rain, or damp basements.
  • Don’t cover tightly in plastic if the area is humid—use breathable covers (cardboard, fabric, or perforated wrap) to prevent condensation and mold.
  • Protect Surface and Edges

  • Keep the factory wrapping on as long as possible if it’s dry and breathable.
  • Place cardboard or MDF sheets on top and bottom of the stack to protect from dents and sunlight.
  • Avoid direct sunlight through windows; UV can discolor bamboo over time.
  • Stack Properly

  • Stack heaviest or thickest sheets on the bottom, lighter on top.
  • Align edges so nothing overhangs unsupported.
  • Don’t stack other heavy materials on a small area of the pile—weight should be evenly distributed.
  • Acclimate Before Use

  • Before cutting or installing, let bamboo boards acclimate for 48–72 hours in the room where it will be used.
  • Keep sheets flat and stickered during acclimation so they don’t warp.

Bamboo panels should be stored like high-grade hardwood plywood: flat, dry, supported, ventilated, and climate-controlled.
